Amendment 23

  • People that live in Washington D.C. can vote
  • Ratified March 29,1961
  • As many electors as if was a state
  • No more than least populous state; 3

Amendment 24

  • Citizens can vote in any primary election
  • It abolished the poll tax
  • Poll taxes pushed black voters away
  • Why? Discrimination in the south
  • Ratified January 23, 1964

Amendment 25

  • The Vice President becomes President if President is removed from office
  • Ratified February 10, 1967
  • John Williams suggested vice President

Amendment 26

  • Citizens 18 years or older are allowed to vote
  • Ratified July 1, 1917
  • Said if they are "Old enough to fight, old enough to vote"
  • Fastest amendment to go through congress

Amendment 27

  • Congress can't raise their pay until next election
  • Introduced by James Madison
  • Proposed 1789
  • Passed 1992
