Tuesday- Notes 

  • 1942- Most of Europe was taken over by Germany
    • Ireland, Switzerland, Sweden were all neutral 
    • Great Britain was all alone- not neutral and against Germany
  • Nazi Goal for the Battle of Britain
    • Bombing Campaign 
      • 1.) Destroy the Royal Air Force (Great Britain)
      • 2.) Attack and destroy the British Navy
      • 3.) Attack British Troops
      • 4.) Once air control was gained, the invasion of Great Britain would begin
        • Didn't achieve number 1
        • German bombers did bad against the air force- bombing only at night
        • Great Britain was aided heavily by the radar and Ultra

    • Nazis "temporarily" suspended civil liberties for all citizens
    • Set up the first concentration camp at Dachau in 1933 
      • First inmates were 200 Communists 
    • Jews were prohibited from working as civil servants (government jobs--- influential jobs like doctors and teachers) 
    • Jews were banned from school

    • 1) Took away German citizenship form Jews and made them second class (couldn't vote, go to court)
