Ed Rousseau is a 70 year old man from Minneapolis, Minnesota. He is addicted to running and runs everyday. He has ran 80 marathons and 76 ultramarathons in 30 years. Ed began running when he was 40 when he wanted to get rid of his alcohol addiction. Instead of drinking alcohol in the morning when he still wants to, he just decides to run to keep his mind off of it. His medals are all on display in his basement. His favorite one is the Sobriety Medal. If he wouldn't of ran this marathon, he probably wouldn't be living right now. That race changed his life forever, and he has been sober ever since. It is so cool he chose to change his life like that. If only every alcohol addict could try his theory! It would be crazy - less alcoholics and less obesity.Ed's longest marathon that he's ran was 384 miles! He ran it in a time span of 6 days and at mile number 80, it was 2:00 in the morning! I would never be able to do that! I guess determination is the key in that situation. On Sunday, the 3rd, Ed will run his 163rd marathon of his life. He is not nervous at all one bit. By the time he is 92 years old, his goal is to finish 50 Twin City marathons. His famous quote is, “A guy’s got to run or head for a recliner, I’ll take running.” This shows how much he really enjoys the activity. It is really cool how he learned how to cope with his addiction of alocohol. He says he just takes one day at a time and one race at a time. So Ed doesn't have to stay at Minneapolis all the time, he goes up to Park Rapids and works on a lake home he has been building from ground up. He works on the inside and out, and takes daily breaks to run. Ed stays up there for about two weeks each month.Ed takes training classes at a YMCA and spends a lot of time running on his own. He travels all around the United States for the marathons he loves to run. He has done many 24 hour and 48 hour races. Ed only gets a couple ten minute naps in during those marathons before he is going strong again. Instead of trying to keep up with the first runners like most people do, he goes his own set pace because he knows he will catch them when he needs to. Fast Eddy is someone anybody can look up to. What a man! He starts his life off by being an alcohol addict and now look at him. It's crazy how much someone can change if they choose to follow through with it.>
