6 years after Manquria- invasion of China- 300,000 people killed in one city, mass rape and stealing, common throughout many cities,

FDR- stop the aggressive nations,

American Gunboat attacked by Japanese forces- 3 killed, boat sunk, Worsened US and Japanese relations,

Axis Powers- Japan Joins the Axis Powers,

Hideki Tojo, Hirohito, leaders in Japan, Yamamoto, came up with plan on Pearl Harbor, said it was a mistake, but did it anyways,

Pearl Harbor- intentions were to knock US out of the war, Japanese victory, Next day declared war on Japan, then Axis powers declare war on US, ships and aircraft destroyed, December 7/8, 1941, declared war,

Why Japan attacked Pearl Harbor- Cut Trade, some trade, didn't have to worry about Soviet Union, wanted to knock them out of the war, Huge risk, backfired,

Fat man- Plutonium, larger, Dropped on Nagasaki, Bockscar, went way wrong,

VJ Day- Japan officially surrendered August 15/September 2,

Dismantle Current Japanese govt, US occupied Japan, Became democracy, Hirohito lost his power but was still a figure, Japan lost all of its land it took over, Japanese military disarmed,

War crime trials for Japanese militants- Death penalty, Military never the same,

Japan is Democracy- part of their new constitution, Japan had to pay money back,

Japan is huge economic power, occupied Japan for 7 years,

the Dropping killed 200,000 died on impact,
