3/2 the treaty of versailles took land from Germany to France, Belgium, Denmark, Czechoslovakia, and Poland. military was dismantled, they had to pay 33 billion dollars and they lost industrial territory. Austria wanted to be with Germany. and War Guilt Cause. the gov stabbed Germany in the back according to Nazi groups and etc. Hitler was born in Austria in 1889. Parents and bro die, failed artist fights for Germany in WW 1. he eventually becomes leader of Nazi party in 1920. arrested in 1923 and goes on trial in 24. he is his own lawyer and they buy in to his nationalism. he is sentenced 5 years and served 9 years.
3/3 Hitler was appointed chancellor in 1933. Hitler dropped out of the league of Nations, started rearming Germany, and the German Rhineland area. in 1938, Hitler announced Anschluss (union) with Austria in 1938. Next he had the Sudetenland crisis to reunite German speaking people in Czech. The Munich Conference gave Germany Sudetenland. For this, Hitler said he would not take over any other countries. Nevelle Chamberlain was the prime minister of Great Britain who negotiated with Hitler. Winston Churchill opposed appeasement and was applauded for opposing it and he became prime minister. In 1939, Hitler took over all of Czechoslovakia. GB said that if he did one more thing, they would fight. Then they invaded Poland and it begins. Soviet German non aggression pact was made at the beginning of the war. Russia gave raw materials for money and weapons. both agreed to stay neutral in a war. secretly agreed to invade Poland and split. people were shocked and Poland was Scared. The invasion happened and Great Britain and France declare war. Germany used blitzkrieg and invaded Belgium Netherlands Luxembourg France Denmark Norway Yugoslavia and Greece.
3/4 Nazi goals were to destroy royal army, attack and destroy British navy, attack British troops, once air control is achieved, invade. Leningrad, Moscow and Stalingrad. were the goals of Nazis to obtain cities in Russia. Russia retreated to spread out Nazis. Germany had 90% of Stalingrad when Russia quit surrendering. Germany surrounded Leningrad and half a million died. Germany had the north half of italy for longer. D day june 6th 1944. Germany was on defense. V-E day was May, 8th 1945.
