Thomas Edison - Invented Telegraph in 1863 called it "Automatic Repeater" invented when he was 16. He also made the copy machine in 1875. Phonograph was invented in 1877. It is like a record player. The Carbon Transmitter was invented in 1877 was made for better audibility. These helped people communicate easier.
Revolutionary War - America was tired of over priced taxes. America could trade with other countries. They could establish a new government.
Civil War - They fought because of slavery. Started when North Carolina seceded from the nation. After Lincolns death, reconstruction was radical.
War of 1812 - Caused by strick trade guidelines. Issues with Great Britain: Fish Rights, Impressment. Nobody won. It was a stale mate. White house burned down.
Louisiana Purchase : France needed money for was against UK. Sold land to them.

Native Americans Coming and Going (Forced)(10,000 years ago) -
Columbus and Exploration (1492-early 1600's) - From Italy. He sailed for Spain. He paved other explorers to come to the U.S.
Jamestown and Colonization (early 1600-1770's) -
Colonization - Settling down and starting a life.
Exploration - Looking for riches
What areas in the new world did countries settle? All of South America and the Eastern US , Central US, and Southwest US.
Revolutionary War - "No Taxation Without Representation"
Boston Massacre (1770) - Colonist were throwing snowballs at the British and the British shot some of the colonist.
Boston Tea Party - Colonist didn't like the high taxes on tea so they dressed up like the Sons Of Liberty and threw tea into the Boston Harbor.
Declaration of Independence - July 4th, 1776. Gained Independence from Great Britain.
Articles of Confederation:
Constitution - Protects our rights
Legislative - Made up of Congress, Senate, and House of Rep ) They make law and creates war.
Executive - Made up of the President. He makes the final decision.
Judicial - Made up of Supreme Court.
Bill of Rights: Freedom of Speech. Freedom of Religion, Right to Bear Arms, etc...
Westward Expansion -
Mexican American War - Took place in Texas. Texas was a part of Mexico. Texas won the war.
Civil War - 15 years after the Mexican American War. The North wanted to keep American together. North won because of lots of gun factories, more people, more transportation, etc... North also had more states involved. North (Union) had 23 state fighting. South (Confederate) 11 states.
