Civil War- 1860, Abraham Lincoln elected President, slavery was being abolished in the south, Union had a lot more factories, 96% to 4% South had cotton but not a lot of eating crops,
Reconstruction- Slaves were free, families were destroyed, rebuilt south economically, social, politically, and physicality. President's Lincoln and Johnson wanted to be easy on the South. Changed in the 1866 Congressional election, Split
