Watergate-
A burglary that happened at Washington Office Complex called Watergate. The burglars broke into the Democratic Party's National Committee offices. The burglary happened in 1970 and became a wide-spread political scandal. The scandal led to the resignation of President Richard Nixon. President Richard Nixon resigned two years after the burglary. "One year of Watergate is enough," President Nixon stated in his State of the Union address in January 1974. The investigations on the scandal were influenced by the media greatly. Turns out President Nixon was covering up this break in. He had recorded conversations with others that proved he was covering it all up. There were many consequences for the United States after and other casualties.
When I was learning about the Watergate Scandal I asked myself, what was Nixon thinking. I think this whole thing is kind of foolish and I’m not sure why Nixon would record those conversations. I don’t think President Richard Nixon should have been involved. He might have been re-elected.
Persian Gulf War
(August 2, 1990 – February 28, 1991)
The Persian Gulf War was an armed conflict between Iraq and countries of the Middle East and the Western countries. It was the result of Iraq’s invasion of Kuwait. Saddam Hussein, Iraq’s president, declared that the invasion of Kuwait was because of an overproduction of oil in Kuwait had cost Iraq a lot of money. The countries that fought against Iraq felt that Iraq should not be in Kuwait and tried to force them out. United States, Great Britain, Saudi Arabia, France, Egypt, France Syria, and Kuwait are the countries that were dominate for fighting against Iraq. To start off the fighting, these countries had an air assault on Iraq. After the air attack the countries began fighting on ground. Iraq gave up knowing they weren’t going to get anywhere.
I can understand why Saddam Hussein is such a bad person. After the Persian Gulf War fair he probably felt like there was no escape. He was fighting against so many other countries. I think the overproduction of oil was rather crazy and it would have made me mad and want revenge if it had cost me that much money

9-11 and the War on Terror- invasion of Afghanistan
On September 11, 2001 there was an attack on the US by al-Qaeda. 19 al-Qaeda terrorist hijacked four commercial jets and crashed two of them into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City. Everyone on board was killed and many workers inside the buildings working were also killed. The towers fell two hours after the crash. The hijackers crashed the third jet into the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia. The hijackers had planned to land the forth jet safely but it crashed in a field in Pennsylvania.
The United States’ response to the al-Qaeda attack was the War on Terror. The War on Terror invaded Afghanistan, it was to get rid of the Taliban and prevent any other attack on the United States. The United States’ president started the War on Terror.
I remember this day, and always will. Where were you on September 11th, 2001? I remember I was at elementary school and an announcement came over the loud speaker and all the TVs turned on. I remember seeing the sad faces and some of the teachers crying and in a panic. This day has changed the lives of many and we will never forget the ones who died on this horrific day.

Invasion of Iraq-2003
The invasion of Iraq was led by the United States. This invasion marked the beginning of the Iraq War. The invasion took place from March 20th to May 1st. Australia and Poland also took part in the invasion but the United States had the most troops involved. The invasion was to disarm Iraq of weapons of mass destruction. In 2003 64% of US nationals had approved of the Invasion of Iraq, 63% wanted President Bush to find a different solution, and 62% believed the threat of terrorism directed against the US would increase due to war. The invasion of Iraq was strongly opposed by some traditional US allies, including the governments of France, Germany, New Zealand, and Canada.
If I were have say in this whole invasion I would be part of the 63% that wanted a new solution. I think war is wrong and I feel there are other ways to solve things. I understand why the United States wanted to invade but wish they would have handled it differently.
