John F. Kennedy

John Fitzgerald "Jack" Kennedy lived from May 29, 1917- November 22, 1963. A lot of people referred to him by his initial JFK. He was the 35th president of the united stats. serving from 1961 until his assassination in 1963.Kennedy was born at 83 Beals Street in Brookline, Massachusetts on Tudesday, May 29, 1917, at 3:00 p.m.. Kennedy was the second son of Joseph P. Kennedy, Sr, and Rose Fitzgerald. Rose his mother was the oldost child of John "Honey Fitz' Fitzgerald, a prominent Boston political figure who was the city's mayor and a three-term member of Congress. Kennedy lived in Brookline for his first ten years of life. He went to Brookline's public edward Devotion School from kindergarten through the beginning of 3rd grade, then Noble and Greenough Lower School and its successor, The Dexter School, a private school for boys, through 4th grade. In September 1927, Kennedy moved with his family to a rented 20-room mansion in Riverdale, Bronx, New York City, then two years later they moved five mils northeast to a 21-room mansion on a sex acre estate in Bronxville, New York. They bought this in May 1929. He was a member of Scout Troop 2 at Bronxville from 1929 to 1931 and was to be the first Scout to become President. He spent summers with his family at their home in Hyannisport, massachusetts, also bought in 1929, and Christmas and Easter holdays with his family at their winter home in Palm Beach, Florida, bought in 1933. In his "primary" school years, he attened Riverdale Country School, a private school for boys in Riverdale, for 5th through 7th grade. From there he was sent all over for school. He had to get an appendecctomy so they had to take him our of school so he could recuperate at home. then when he was ready to go again they moved him to another school. To me it seems like it would be really hard to get through school moving all over like that.He graduated from choate in June 1935. Kennedy's superlative in his yearbook was "Most likely to become President". In September 1935, he sailed on the SS Normandie on his first trip abroad with his parents and his sister Kathleen to London with reason to study for a year with A Professor named Harold Laski at the London School of Economics like his older brother Joed did.In September 1936 he enrolled as a freshman at Harvard College, where he produced that year's annual freshman Smoker, It was called by a reviewer "an elaborate entertainment, which included in its cast outstanding personalities of the radio, screen and sports world. That was one of his main accomplishments during college. But, before he became president he was in the military service as commander of the Motor Torpedo boat PT-109 during World War ll in the South Pacific. After he was done serving there his aspirations turned political. With help and encouragement and grooming from his father, Joseph P. Kennedy, Sr., kenned represented massachusetts's 11th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1947 to 1953 as a Democrat, and he also served in the U.S. senate from 1953 until 1960. Kennedy defeated then Vice President and Republican candidate Richard Nixon in the 1960 U.S. presidential election. It was one of the closest presidential elections in American history. JFK was the second-youngest president (after Theodor Roosevelt), The first president born in the 20th century, and the youngest elected to the office at the age of 43.Kennedy is the first and only Catholic president, and is the only president to have won a Pulitzer prize(won for being excellent in newspaper). One of the big things he delt with while in presidency was imigrants. Some events during his terms include the a bay of Pigs Invasion, The Cuban Missile Crisis, the building of the Berlin Wall, the Space Race, the African American Civil Rights Movement and early events of the Vietnam War.
