John Collier Chapter 15

I chose John Collier as my topic this week because I have always been interested in Indians sense I was a child. John Collier’s was Commissioner of Indian Affairs this assignment was given to him by Franklin Roosevelt in 1933. John Collier created the Indian Reorganization Act of 1934. This Act had three things involved Economic, Cultural, and Political. The economic side lets there land belong to the whole tribe. The cultural side lets children attend school on the reservation. The political side tribes could elect the tribal council govern the reservation. Before all this he had spent awhile in New Mexico and he observed the Native Americans that’s what brought him to all this.He has a very high education he want to college in Paris he majored in social philosophy that later lead him to help the immigrants and then lead to the Natives. This is a pic of JohnSources-The Americans text book by McDougal Littell, and http://www.answers.com/topic/john-collier
