JFK's Background

John F. Kennedy was born on May 29, 1917, in Brookline, Massachusetts. He was born into a wealthy family and attended private schools during his childhood. He studied abroud in London, then when he came back to the US he enrolled at Princeton. He was later in his life hospitalized for two months in observation of lukemia. In 1936 he enrolled as a freshman at Harvard University. Later in his life he traveled the world with friends and family. In 1940 he graduated from Harvard with a degree in international affairs.

In 1941, Kennedy volunteered to be a part of the United State's Army, but was rejected because of his back problems. He was later accepted into the Navy. He served some of his time in the Navy's office, but eventually earned the rank as lieutenant while at the Pacific Theater while commanding a patrol torpedo boat. He received a Navy and Marine Corpes Medal for being all heroic when a Japan boat damaged his patrol boat and gathered and even towed one of his men to as island. Kennedy was discharged in 1945, shortly before Japan surrendered.

Kennedy decided to run for president in 1960. He gave one of his most well-known speeches at the Democratic Convention, "New Frontier." On November 8th, JFK was elected president over Richard Nixon, with the results coming out extremly close. JFK was sworn into presidency on January 20, 1961, becoming the 35th president of the United States, and the youngest man to ever be elected to lead our country. JFK was the president through civil rights movements, the space race, and other hard times in our history. JFK was assasinated on November 22, 1963, in Dallas, Texas. The bullets which sent John F. Kennedy were allegedy fired by Harvey Lee Oswald.

John F. Kennedy led a very interesting life, and I believe that he is a very important man to know about in our history. It upsets me that there is still things unknown about his assassination, with all of the conspiracies.
