Jefferson's Presidency -- 7th Hour

From March 4th, 1801 to March 4th, 1809, Thomas Jefferson held the title of the United States President. Jefferson was the third to hold the position as a U.S President. He was one of the most prominent Founding Fathers and did a great deal of contributing to the republicating of the United States.The Louisiana Purchase was one of the major events during his presidency. The Louisiana Purchace was when the United States were purchasing the 828,800 square miles of land owned by the French, which was then called, Louisiane. The total cost that the United States paid for the land was 15 million dollars.The Lewis and Clark expedition, 1803 to 1806, was also a major event which accured during Jefferson's term. Meriwether Lewis and William Clark were the frist two that explored, which is now called, the United States.Jefferson achieved many things, he was a horticulturist, statesman, paleontologist, and many others. He was also the founder of the University of Virginia. Jefferson's main goals were to reduce taxes and the national debt. Thomas Jefferson was the author of the Declaration of Indepence.
