Tuesday - I presented about the FBI today. The Secret Service also presented.
Secret Service -
- Headquarters is 3 blocks from the white house
- 120 field offices in all 50 states
- 12 offices in foreign states as well
- just under 6,000 people working for S.S.
- Uniformed division provide protection for the White House and other buildings in D.C
- Special agents are usually assigned to field operations a few years before
- They ride seg ways
- Only one agent has ever died while protecting the president
- SS has never officially had a traitor or spy
- FBI started as a part of the SS
- When USSS was formed its primary job was to counter counterfeiting
- Part of treasury department
- SS was moved to DOHS after 9/11
- Lincoln authorized creation of SS
- First cheif was William P. Wood
- Emblem is a star
