Iraq's goals and why they invaded kuwait.

..Iraq has some goals that they would like to accomplish. One of the goals is to bring more Sunnis into the political process. Sunnis are the largest denomination in Islam. They think that by bringing Sunnis into the poitical process, Iraq will be a more stable place. I agree with that. The Sunnis are a large part of their country and by getting involved in the political process, they could definitely make an impact. I think that if Iraq was more stable, we could get out of this war sooner and safer. Overall, Sunnis could make a great impact by being involved in the political process...Another one of their goals is to finalize the oil revenue distribution. Basically, it means that they distribute their oil to regions based on population. But in doing this, they are afraid that they will lose wealth that used to be gained by thier oil supply. Countries would bid on oil fields. They also opened a contract that can be signed by foreign companies. This contract could lead to investments from foreign countries. I think that it is a good idea because oil is over priced and by doing this, prices could go down. But, it could also lead to disagreements between countries...Another goal, is to ease the governments policy on the former Baath party members. The Baath party members are a group that was founded in Damascus is 1940. Their main goal was to unite all the Arab countries into one state. A Baath member said that if the government reconciled with them, it would look into ammending the constitution...In 1990, Iraq invaded the small country of Kuwait. It created a crisis and the soldiers were forced to leave the country. But Kuwait is still in a crisis today. This invasion convinced us that Saddam Hussein is indeed a great threat. 100,000 Iraqi troops took over the small country in a mere five hours. The reason they captured the small country, is because they are an oil rich country. By capturing Kuwait they recieved more oil which lead to more money.
