Huey Pierce Long, Jr.

Huey Pierce Long Jr. was born on August 30, 1893; his parents were Huey Pierce Long Sr. and Caledonia Palestine Tison. Huey was the seventh child out of nine. He was a very good student, but he started a petition to try and get the principle fired and he ened up being expelled for it; I think that's pretty funny honestly. After school he worked as a traveling salesman instead of going to college right away. In 1913 he married Rose McConnell and they had three children. In WWI he was going to become a Baptist minister but decided the job wasn't for him.

Long shortly attended law school and he took a bar exam, passed it, and started his private practice as a lawyer. He always wanted to help the poor and he fought against the Standard Oil companies for running unfair business. He grew up as a middle class citizen so he wanted to fight for the poorer people. He made up a program called 'Share Our Wealth'. Basically this would help to even out the income for everybody in America so that it was more equal. I don't agree with his idea, I like FDR's. I think that with Roosevelt's organizations people still had to work for money which is a better way to go about it than just giving them money.
