High Speed Transport ships from WW1

I figured i would talk a little bit about some different ships used during WW1.There is many different types of ships used in WW1 but i figured i would talk about some high speed transport ships. There were two seperate classes in the US Navy (for high speed transport ships) being Crosley and Charles Lawrence. One ship from the Crosley class was the USS Horace A. Bass. It was 306 feet long and could hold up to 201 men. It had a couple anti aircraft gun and and another 1 5". Its max speed was 23.5 knots with 12000 HP. There were two Turbo-electric engines.

Another ship from the Charles Lawrence is the USS Yokes. It is 306 feet long and can house 186 men. it has two Anti-aircraft guns and another 1 5". Its max speed is 23 knots with 12000 HP with two Turbo-electric engines.

These ships mostly came from converted destroyers. they would take down stacks and get rid of a lot of weight and possibly an extra boiler if they didn't need it.These types of ships were used to carrie army rangers onto hostile shores as well as float away from shore and supply gun fire as needed. They also delivered marine raiders and some underwater demolition teams. This made it a lot easier to invade and take over small areas of shore land or accomplish any other small tasks that needed to be done. There was also Kamikaze threats during this time so their original 4 inch/50 guns were replaced with three 3 inch/50 guns. They were also tricked out with 5 20 mm anti-aircraft guns. They called these ships APD's. The AP is for transporter and the D is for destroyer. Basically because thats what they originally were. But, they still had some big guns.
