How the current health care system in the U.S. works is family's with healthcare through a person's employer, such as State Farm and Blue Cross Blue Shield and etc. The other type is Government funded, such as Medicare. Medicare is for the elderly, and veterans. Medicaid is for the handicapped, and low income single parents. How it works for private companies through your employer, is you have a deductable depending on single, or family. You pay a certain amount each month, and the insurance company cover a certain percentage of medical visits, surgery, etc. Also, the branch of insurance may vary on the employer, such as providing vision, dental, and other branches. How govenment provided healthcare works is you have to pay nothing, but depending on your condition, it may vary on where you go to get helathcare, such as being a vetran, you have to go to a VA hospital. Also, you do not have to pay any certain percentage of insurance rates, as long as you are under certain guidelines that the government has.
President Obama's plan is to have full government coverage for every U.S. citezen. This would possibly eliminate all private coverage from employers. The plan is simple, create affordable healthcare funded by the government for everyone. There are many details, such as how long you must wait for care, and who gets certain doctors and such. To pay for the healthcare is also another thing. Taxes would go up, to fund the healthcare system.Obama and his supporters are for Healthcare reform is to provide everyone with healthcare no matter who you are. They want to make it fair, and have each citezen follow the plan and get " free " healthcare. Of course, this means cuts somwhere else. But it does give the non- insured equal opportunities to get to go and see a doctor. There are always two sides to the story, though. The reasons some Americans are against healthcare reform is simple. Taxes. Where would the government get all of this money to fund it without making cuts somewhere else? Others are against it because you might have to go to a certain hospital, or doctor. People also think medical supplies would be in short supply, and it could depend on who comes first on surgeries and other medical procedures. It is not fair to the hard workers of america to pay even more taxes to support healthcare they didn't want and had healthcare that was just fine. The reason people have private insurance is because they work hard at what they do, and it's not there fault some people can't get certain insurance.
