1.The Current U.S. HealthCare Plan is by far the most expensive one in the world. The reasons that contribute to the high health care costs are the rising costs of medical technology and prescription drugs. Also, it is the only country in the developed world, excluding South Africa, that does not supply health care to ALL of its citizens.
Although there have been some negative statistics, the U.S. ranked 1st in responsiveness for care out of the 191 member countries. However, The United States tied for last in the fairest health care system bid(this was in the OECD category, or Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, so it was out of 55 countries).2. President Barack Obama is working with the Congress to pass comprehensive health care sometime this year. He wants to guarentee your choice of doctor, assure high quality health care to all americans, and control rising health care costs. The Administration believes that comprehensive health reform should:-Sustain coverage when you change or lose your job-Prevent families from bankruptcy or debt due to high health care costs-Minimize long-term expansion of health care costs for businesses and government-Assure the people get their selection of doctors and health plans-Devote money for avoidance and wellness-Develop patient security and value of care-Pledge reasonably-priced, quality health coverage for all Americans-Prevent families from bankruptcy or debt due to high health care costs-Sustain coverage when you change or lose your job-Terminate barriers to coverage for citizens with recurring medical conditions
<3. Obama wants the health care reform because 46 million, about 18% of the US population, under the age of 65 were without health care in 2007. It is predicted (worse case scenario) that 66 million could be without health care by 2019.-Over 8/10 people without health care are from working families-1.3 million full time workers lost their health care in 2006('nuff said)
4. Some are against the idea of Obama's health care plan, because they don't like the concept of a 'total overhaul.' Some republicans also believe you cannot "build movement on something that isn't credible." They also claim that his plan will put seniors' well being in jeopardy.
