Okay, Everyone else is doing the deaths of Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett. I, on the otherhand, dislike being just like everybody else. So, here it is...something different. Bill Clinton went to North Korea to free two U.S. citizens , Euna Lee and Laura Ling. Lee and Ling were Journalists for Current TV, which is a media venture formed by Al Gore. The women were claimed to be engaging in hostile acts, and visited the country illegally. They were sentenced to twelve years of hard labor.
Left, Laura Ling- Right, Euna Lee
Kim Jong Il, a reclusive leader, was the one who sentenced the girls to twelve years hard labor. Ling and Lee were on a plane ride home less than 24 hours after Clinton landed at the North Korean capital. Reportedly, Clinton went there on a private, humanitarian trip to make sure of their release.Even though the visit was mainly private, the visit also had happened during tensions of North Koreas nuclear program
.Lee was a South Korean born U.S. citizen, and Ling was a California native. The girls were beyond happy to meet their family back in Los Angeles. Clinton mentioned Barack Obama's gratitude toward the situation. It appears Clinton did not want to negotiate the situation. He wanted to end the situation.
