Today Alex and Sam finished their presentation.

The battle of Iwo Jima-

The goal was to capture 2 airfields. The Americans won at the start. They captured Iwo Jima. There were a lot more deaths for Japan than the U.S.

Battle of Midway-

It was the most important naval battle.

Japan’s plan was to lure in the U.S. aircraft carriers and extend their defense perimeter

The U.S. knew that the attack was coming because they broke their code, so they set an ambush. The U.S. won.

Outcome of the war-

The U.S. dropped two atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The Japanese surrendered on August 15, 1945. That is what ended WWII.

Japan needed a lot of resources so they started invading like China. That started Pearl Harbor and the U.S. declared war. Japan was doing well, then the Battle of Midway happened and the U.S. started winning. The U.S. started island hopping and taking over. Then the U.S. started dropping the atomic bombs on Japan and that is what ended the war.
