Today Japan finished their presentation.

1. How did the Treaty of Versailles impact them?

-It gave them more land but they weren’t happy because they wanted Chinese land and they didn’t get it.


2. What type(s) of government did this country have in the interwar years (1919-1938)?
-Taisho period and they had a constitutional monarchy.

3. How did their leader, that led them throughout WWII, come to power?
-HiroHito was liked and he showed very good leadership. He was the emperor. Hideki Tojo became the prime minister. He was the chief in the Japanese army. He was the leader of the military. He was appointed army minister.

4. How did this leader change their country (for the better and worse) prior to WWII?
-

5. What were the goals of the leader?
-To get more natural resources like iron and coal and copper. They didn’t have a lot because they were a very mountainous and small country. They were trying to get a colony so they could get resources.

6. What was the military strategy of this country in the inter-war years (1919-1938)?
-They attacked anyone they could really. They would demoralize them and that means that they thought that they would just give up and it like took away their confidence and their will to fight. They attacked where nobody could see them.

7. What role did they play in WWII?
-Japan bombed the U.S. and they bombed Pearl Harbor.

8. Who were their allies in WWII?
-They were the Axis Powers. They were Germany and Italy.

-They lost land like some of Poland.

-They had a Communist government.

3. How did their leader, that led them throughout WWII, come to power?
-Joseph Stalin was the leader before and during WWII. He was a communist and Lenon died and Stalin took over. He was chosen.

4. How did this leader change their country (for the better and worse) prior to WWII?
-Stalin’s actions cause 6 million deaths. He killed his own people because he didn’t trust the people so like if they would look at him funny he would kill them. He killed anyone who he thought he couldn’t trust. He killed the protesters and people like that.

5. What were the goals of the leader?
-He wanted to regain Russia’s land that they lost in WWI. He wanted to take over the world one country at a time. He wanted to build a strong military. He wanted to spread the ideas of communism. He wanted to increase the food supply because they were on rations.

6. What was the military strategy of this country in the inter-war years (1919-1938)?
- They wanted to postpone the war for as long as possible. They wanted to move the economic capacity from the Western areas to the Eastern region.

7. What role did they play in WWII?
-They signed a treaty that Hitler and the S.U. would take over Poland and they would split the land but Hitler went against it and the S.U. switched to the Allied powers.

8. Who were their allies in WWII?
-the allied powers.
