So, unfortunatly we had school today and we are having a work day. We are to reasearch our projects and make a powerpoint. So the powerpoints are now due on like Thursday I think. My two topics are Rural Electrification Administration and music of the 1930's.Rural Electrification Administration--So what ive learned so far is that the REA was basically just to get power to the rural areas, pretty simple. I guess that private enterprises were setting rates really high just so they could make more money. The REA had no government competition between the private enterprises, so the government was basically not involved at all. So the REA gave loans to local electric companies and they distributed the power to the rural areas. By like 1939 the REA gave power to more the 288,000 houses and this make the private companies lower their rates and give power to the rural areas. Harry A. Slattery was the head of the REA from like 1939 to 1944, but resigned because of a "conflict" betweent he Secretary of Agriculture.I didnt get to research music of the 1930's because I spent the whole class period researcing the REA. This is what I learned today and I will put this in my powerpoint.
