Friday the 13th

Stacey Rock and Ed Schiller were high school sweethearts. They thought they were perfect for each other and would always be together. Things didn’t quite work out how they had planned though. Stacey said that things probably didn’t work between them because they were too young. So Ed went off to college and he and Stacey stopped seeing each other, but she never forgot about him.Ed and Stacey

For about ten years Ed and Stacey lead separate lives. Stacey got married to Jim Brescia and had three children. In the summer of 2005, Ed and Stacey met up again and they found that they were still crazy about each other. Of course, Stacey husband, Jim, didn’t like this one bit. Stacey had filed for a divorce to Jim and they were still waiting for the divorce to be finalized. Ed and Stacey had starting spending a lot of time together and they had hoped to get married eventually.Stacey at her wedding.

On January 13, 2006, Stacey got the most horrible shock of her life. Ed had been shot execution style in a parking garage. Police automatically went to Stacey’s almost ex-husband. He had an alibi. He had been at work on the morning of the murder, very far away from where Ed had been shot. Jim Brescia’s trash was searched and they found an empty binoculars case and a credit card receipt. It showed that Jim recently bought a prepaid calling card even though he had a home phone, work phone, and a cell phone. There were only five calls charged to the calling card. All of which were to a man named Scott Foxworth. Foxworth had spent 4 years in prison for killing a man in a bar fight. Foxworth’s car had been seen in the parking garage near the spot where Ed had been shot. When he was asked about the calls to Foxworth, Jim said he was just trying to help him get back together with his former girlfriend Nancy Campbell. Campbell worked with Jim.All three were now suspects, and when she was interrogated, Nancy Campbell came clean. She told them everything she knew about Foxworth and Brescia’s plan to scare Jim and send him a message. Apparently Brescia had planned to pay Foxworth $10,000. The men went to trial and were tried separately. Brescia said that he had told Foxworth the deal was off and wanted him to return the 1,000 down payment. Brescia said Foxworth had killed Ed all on his own. Both men are sentenced to life in prison for first degree murder. When I was reading this article there was a part that had an interview with Brescia. He was always talking about how he loved his wife and wanted desperately for his marriage to work. If he truly loved this woman he would have seen how happy she was with Ed and would have accepted it. But instead he was selfish and destroyed her life by getting rid of the man she loved. I feel so bad for Stacey. Things were finally looking up for her and then everything got taken away from her. I can’t imagine what it would be like to go through that. Stacey says that she can’t stop dreaming about how her future could have been with Ed, but she also says she was extremely blessed for the time she had with him.
