Today in class I learned that in 1890 they started building skyscrapers .The flatiron is the first skyscraper in U.S. History and it is still standing today in New York. It made it so you didn't have as many buildings to take up more space. Electrics cars and trolley cars help people get to places faster and the railroads made cities bigger. It made it easier to get to places such as work faster and they were powered by electric wires. Printing started becoming bigger. Publishers had to put out more books and magazines to keep up with the literacy rate. More blacks became able to read and write. Therefore that made libraries expand. Orville and Wilbur Wright were the first ones to make an airplane. It was a glider which meant it didn't have an engine and couldn't go far places. December 17, 1903 was the date. In earlier pictures people wouldn't even smile because it took so long to take the picture and they were really heavy. The public education in considered the foundation so we are going to be ignorant. By the War in 1882 was when most states had public schools. Very few went on to high school because there wasn't very many school or very many people to actually educate others. They learned reading writing and math. The school was very strict if you did anything wrong you would get hit or whipped. Children were very unhappy. The Invention of Kindergarten were young children that needed to be watched so they came up with this. They would learn he basics and it started the new trend to get kids educated earlier. African American educators had very little educators this was mainly in the south and in the north children were taught quicker. 1940 is when black and white children were allowed to go to school together. Immigrates were widely excepted by the U.S. They were to become "Americanized".I think that it is really cool that one of the first skyscrapers are still standing today in New York! I would love to take a field to see that! ;D I also think that it is very unfortunate that they didn't really have like any educators back then. It makes me think of how lucky I am to have to get up and go to school everyday!
