T.G.I.F.!! Well today in class, we talked about how Ning is going into failure and we will have to quit this whole class. HA just kidding! But there are website problems and Bruns should really talk to his Ning peeps. We went over all the Asia maps for review for the test. The Asia test is on Thursday so I will need to study. We finished discussing the Iraq blog. I talked about mine yesterday, so I just listened. I learned that we won the Persian Gulf War. Bruns told us that it depends on who you ask though-- the people in Iraq will not say we won. Iraq thought that they won becasue Hussein was still in power shortly after the war.Luke told us about why we went to war in Iraq in 2003. We thought they had weapons that were extremely harmful. The CIA foudn out that Iraq was buying uranium from African countries. Haley told us three more main reasons for invading. One- we knew they had some kind of mass destruction weapons. Two - we wanted to free the Iraqi people. Three - We wanted to elimate Suddam Huiessen as a terrorist. We talked about the Bush Administrations key moments. One of the big things was the invasion in 2003. Another one was when Iraq became a democratic country. One was when Saddam Hussein was captured and put to death. Another key moment was when Bush rode in an airplane in 2003/4 as a pilot and it seemed like the war was over -- but it still isn't. Another one is when Bush said that he would pull troops out in 2009 and the 'surge.' I learned that the surge was when we sent a ton of more troops to Iraq. It was very successful. We talked about the Obama Administration next. One key moment is that he is transferring soldiers from Iraq to Afghanistan. He wants to add 83.4 billion for the wars. He said in February, that we will be out of Iraq in 18 months. Bruns told us about the US Role in the United Nations. I learned that Bush lied to us.Jessica told us about the consequences of the war that is still going on today. There are 17% of Iraqi people suffer from mental illnesses just from the seeing the war take place. She said that it has cost us 800 billion dollars of the tax thing. One soldier costs 390,000 for one year. That is a ton! Ahyways, we ran out of time and we will watch a powerpoint on Monday.
