the Spanish American war was for the independance of Cuba, many people wanted to take it over, but the anti-imperilist said no taking it over, because they thought it would cost more money and lead to more wars. the revolution was started by Cubans, Americans declared neatrality, but Cubans wanted our support. Jose marti destroyed American property to make Americans think that the Spanish where destroying it. the Newspapers made it look like the Spanish were butchering the Cuban people. and Spain also insulted america.
