We went over the US map. Then we discussed the Climate Changes...

Finding 1-Our Changing Climate:

Sea ice has decreased dramatically more than 40% and the thickness of the ice has decreased by 50%. Water evaporation has been increasing causing surface lakes and ice to disappear. US temperature has increased by 1.3 degrees F to 1.9 degrees F. More evaporation and less moisture can cause less productivity of plants and cause more wildfires and non-functional plants. Frost damage is causing more pests and diseases. Global warming over the past 50 years has been caused by humans burning fossil fuels. In the past it’s been volcano eruptions and other natural things. Carbon dioxide has been adding up in the atmosphere in the 1700 due to coal, oil, and gas burning. If we hadn’t done all the things we did, volcans could have cooled the earth. Heat trapping gases such as Carbon Dioxide, Methane, and Nitrous Oxide. They are all caused by humans and are the reason earth is heating up.

Finding 2-Extreme Weather: One factor of the extreme weather that has been happening is severe droughts. Droughts are the primary way that people experience climate change. Over the last 50 years much of the usa has been seeing increases in long periods of droughts. High temperatures, heavy down pours, and in some regions severe floods or droughts. The number of heat waves have been steadily increasing over the last few years. It has been getting abnormally hot throughout the United states. In Texas some parts had over 70 days of 100 degree temperatures. Heavy precipitation has been increasing since 2000.

Finding 3-Future Climate: they are suspecting for hotter temperatures later in the century and that is based on the stuff that we emit globally, so how we take of the global gases depends on how our temperature in the future will be affected. Global sea level has risen about 8 inches since 1880.

rising sea levels are bad because they are taking away peoples homes, the water temperature is getting warm and it is moving people more inward towards land causing it to be more crowded
