JAPAN

Their military strategy was to attack basically any where you can get to. Japan tried to make China roll over by murdering a large amount of people. They attacked blindly, which means they did it so no other countries could see where they were attacking from and could not fight back. Japan bombed the United States on August 15, 1945. The United States in return bombed Japan on August 9, 1945. Japan bombed Pearl Harbor in Hawaii on December 7th, 1941. Germany and Italy were Japan’s main allies.

The Treaty of Versailles gave Japan more land, but Japan was fully happy. They wanted some Chinese land but they didn’t get any. They had a Constitutional Monarchy government. They had an Emperor as a leader. HiroHito became the leader because he was highly liked. Hideki Tojo was in the Imperial Japanese army. He was essentially in charge of the military. He was appointed the army minister. The main goals were to get more natural resources, like iron from China. They also tried getting coal and copper.

Soviet Union

Joseph Stalin was the leader before and during World War Two. Soviet Union was trying to stay out of the conflict; they really didn’t want to get involved with the war. They lost land in result to Treaty of Versailles. All of the countries bordered the ocean or sea. Because they turned communist, they lost land and dropped out of the war. The Soviet Union had a Communist government. Their leader came to power by being chosen as the new leader when the previous leader died.

Stalin wanted to regain Russia’s land after WWI. He wanted to take over the world and build a strong military. He attempted to spread the ideas of communism, increase the food supply and raw material production. Factories started making military weapons. They were trying to stay out of the war but were very prepared incase that had to be in the war.
