friday, february 26th...

I took my test today and did alright, could have done better. I started on my assigned blog that is due Sunday night. In the blog, we must define what the Treaty of Versailles was, what it specifically did, and if I think the treaty helped lead to WWII and explain.

Treaty Of Versailles

  • one of the peace treaties at the end of World War One
  • ended state of war between Germany and Allied Powers
  • signed June 28, 1919. exactly five years after the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand
  • it was signed at the Versailles Palace near Paris, and that's where it got it's name
  • it requried Germany to accept sole responsibility for causing the war
  • three most important politicians, David Lloyd George, Georges Clemenceau and Woodrow Wilson
  • many hundreds of people were involved in the treaty
  • David Lloyd George of Great Britian had two different views on how Germany should be treated
  • he was a politician
  • he feared that the rise of communism in Russia could spread into western Europe
  • did not want Germany treated in lenience
  • Georges Clemenceau of France thought Germany should be brought to it's knees so it could never start war again
  • Woodrow Wilson of America believed Germany should be punished but in a way that would lead to European reconciliation as opposed to revenge.
