Today we continued our project presentations.


**What was the New Deal(1st and 2nd) and it's goals(3 R's)?-

**Why did people criticize the New Deal?-

**Why was FDR upset with the US Supreme Court and what did he do to try to solve this issue?-something with the laws was unconstitutional

**How did the New Deal help:- Huey long

**unemployed- PWA- public works administration.......Cwa- Lasted 5 mounths and did not help and cost alot of money....... RFC, USHA, NYA, CCC, WPA, FSA,
**farmers- RFC, AAA
**factory workers/labor-
**young people- NYA, CCC
**banks/business- RFC, EBR
**home owners- USHA
**elderly-social security also helped people.also helped eldelry and dissabled.
**Native Americans- IRA

**Describe the culture of the 1930's.- Music- country, Jazz, Swing, Big Banda, & Pop. Swing dancing became popular, the Jitterbug was also popular.

*RFC- It made loans to banks, railroads, farm, associations, and other businesses, helped banks, unemployed people, and farmers. Was not successful.
*USHA- Was mostly used for lending money to state and communities for low construction cost. There were about 650,000 peopel that needed jobs. Branched out and became the PWA.
*NYA- National Youth Administration, not around today, Granted younq people money, and made them beinq able to study at the same time, provided them with jobs, helped the elementary to high school students be employed, and it kept the students not drop outr of school. Helped pay for future job traininq. There was lots of criticism besause of the use of tax dollars to pay the younq adults to work.
*Fireside Chats- Purpose was to have America listen at a time when America didnt know where to turn. They had a biq impact on the nation.
*NLRB- Named by Robert F. Waqner. it established minimum waqes and maximum work hours. Determined if the workers were beinq treated fair. Is still around today.
*CCC- Helped the younq adults skills 1933 to 1942 was in effect in Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and US Virqin Islands. Is not around today. 18-25 yr. old men. most popular.
*WPA- Harry H. was supplied with 4,800,000,000 dollars to help unemployed workers back working. It gave the unemployed jobs like building highways, up keeping towns... etc.
*IRA- Was set up to help out many indians in despair. qave then more land that we took from them. AKA the Wheeler-Howard Act. Even though this act was made to help the Indians many tribes like the Crows and Navajo rejected it.

*FSA- it required investors to receive info on what's being offered. It still exist just improved and has a different name.

*RRR- Immediate action taken to halt the economic decline, Recovery- temporary program set up home owner's land corps, Reform- The permanent programs set up.

*FDIC- Made to provide insureance coverage for banks to maintain financial stability; if a bank fails FDIC insures them 100,000/ account.

*EBR- Act of the u.s congress, Federal Reserve's commitment to provide unlimited amounts of currancy to reopened banks

*- Established the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), Allowed Federal Reserve to regulate intrest rates in savings accounts, biggest thing it did was established the FDIC.

*AAA- Farmers would be paid to cut down their crop area, not having so much surplus would raise prices giving farmers money, Improved from the 1933 act, it made it mandatoey to pay farmers for corn, cotton, and wheat. Some farmers were mad about the AAA because they would have to tear up what they already planted. The general idea is still around it just gets improved.

*Huey Long- Fought for the poor because he grew up in the middle class. wanted to start "Share Our Wealth" wanted to even out income across america by taking money form people with higher incomes and giving the money to the poor without them working for it.

*FD&A- Established in 1938 makes sure that products are labeled correctly. Act was one of the most important right laws then and still today.

*Supreme Court Packing Issue- Roosevelt was not happy with the new deal and started the supreme court packing issue.
