Today we continued with the Planet in Peril video.

More about the Amazon:

  • The Crawhoe indians live in Brazil's Amazon Rain forest.
  • They are doing their best to protect their land from disappearing as a result of illegal logging
  • About 1500 square miles of forest is being cut down each year

The United States

  • A 6 year old hispanic boy named Valentine has contracted Lukemia
  • Valentine lives in a neighborhood outside of Houston, Texas
  • In the vicinity there is a petroleum plant that emits a lot of pollution, making kids like Valentine 56% more susceptable to getting Lukemia
  • There is no law requiring businesses to limit the amount of pollution that they put into the air.

The rest of class was spent going over the Europe map for the test which we will be taking on Monday and Tuesday.
