We went over the Europe map. Then continued with our projects. Kara, Anastasia and Chelsea went first. Their topic is over population. We need to define the problem, what are the causes and effects and what is being done to lessen it. Overpopulation is a condition where the number of people in an area or habital exceeds carrying capacity. There can be an increase # of births and a decrease in deaths. Then average # of kid a woman has is 7 to 8. Its mostly in third world countries. U.S had 303 million people. 6.7 billion people in the world. Iowa has bout 3 million people. China is overpopulated. Haiti is another one. Over population is not just about how many people there are but also how much impact on the enviroment each person makes. There are two types of overpopulation like the U.S and how much polution we cause and like Africa and the starving people living on the streets. the effects is the animals become extinct. More car=more pollution. It increases deforestation and human communities that are too dense produce tons of solid waste daily. Resources are getting harder to find. Over half the Earth's wetlands are gone. 1.6 billion people in China. higher poverty percent, high birth rate, high rate of unempolyment in urban areas. Dry farm lands poor diet. Use birth control and practice abstinence limmit immigration and limit the # of kids in a family.
