Today we talked about some new things. We need to have our Daily blogs posted on the day that we wrote it. Otherwise it will not count for our grade. We also talked about having respect to the computers. Next we started to watch a movie over the New Deal.

Throughout the 1920's the United State's economy was booming. Many people were putting their money into the Stock Market. Most of the people bought their stocks on margin which meant that they could buy a lot of stocks for very little money. This inflated the stocks a lot. The Stock Market Crashed, and that made people lose all of their money. This started the Great Depression.

Roosevelt had a terrific radio personality which made people believe that he was on their side. During his 100 days he started the outline of his New Deal plan. The first problem that he had to face was to help the banks. He closed down all of the banks and assured the people that their money would be safe. The NRA let the government regulate what the businesses could do.

He thought that it was better to pass these laws than to just hand out money to the people. FDR talked on the radio and they were called fireside chats. The people that listened to them thought that they were a part of the government. Eleanor Roosevelt had a twice weekly radio show and tried to help women and African Americans. African Americans were ignored by the New Deal. FDR never supported African Americans as much as Eleanor did.
