Today we continued to learn more about WWI. We started talking about how the Treaty of Versailles ended WWI. Four countries that met were United States, France, Italy, and England. Woodrow Wilson represented the U.S. He had 14 Points, that he wanted to come out of the Treaty of Versailles. Some of these points included ending secret treaties, freedom for trading around the seas, end colonial claims, free trade, and self-determination for all countries. I learned that France wanted to make the treaty so that Germany would lose more stuff like money and land. I also learned that Germany lost land to Belgium, France, and Denmark, as well as to other countries. Another thing that came out of the treaty was that Germany's army had to be reduced to around 100,000 men. They were not allowed to use tanks or any kind of aircrafts. They were only allowed six naval ships and could have no submarines. Another thing that I learned was that Following the war Germany printed a lot of money, which made their money system very inflated. This made their money worthless compared to the American Dollar. Another thing in the Treaty of Versailles was the War Guilt Clause, which made Germany take full responsibility for WWI. One country that liked the Treaty was Japan. They gained a lot of territory on the coast, mostly they gained land from Germany's colonies.I learned that the League of Nations was set up like the United Nations. It was a group that would try to keep the world at peace. Woodrow Wilson really wanted The League of Nations included in the treaty. It only had five member, which included Great Britian, France, Italy, Japan, and the United States. However, the United States never joined completely. I also learned that Wilson tried to persuade people so that the U.S. could become a member.
