1872
crédit mobilier was a construction company that helped build the union pacific railroad
won a contract to build 667 miles of the Union Pacific railroad
charged the railroads millions of dollars more than what building the railroads would have costed
the Union Pacific was on the verge of bankruptcy
the workers basically paid themselves to build the railroad

everyone who invested in the railroad who didn't invest in the company was left without security

it was claimed that there had been $72 million worth the contracts to the crédit mobilier for a railroad that was really only worth $53 million

vice president hollfax and congressmen

the workers charged more money than what the rail road was worth and pocketed the extra money they were getting to pay off congress

the company was made by the railroad company to bulid the railroad

we now only need 3 sources for our projects
