Today in PE Mr. Hosack told us that he got a new poster from Mr. Osborn. The poster had Lolo Jones on it, he explained why he had decided to hang the poster in the weight roomLolo Jones was born on August 5th 1982.Lolo(Lori) had a very disturbed childhood. She had a family of six. He mother was trying to fend for all, because Lolo's father was either in the Air Force or in Jail. They didnt have a house to live in, so the paster at their church let them live in the basement of the church when she was in third grade. Lolo had been to eight different schools. Once Lolo's mother was able to move out from under the basement, Lolo told her mom that she cant move to a town that doesnt have a track. She really wanted to pursue her dream. Her mother let her move in with four different families so that she wouldnt have to move away from something that she loved. Lolo did very well in school, and on the track. She ran the hurdles and held the record for a very long time.Lolo first went to college at ISU and ran track. She eventually got a spot on the LSU track team. Lolo tried out for the 2004 Olympic team but didnt get accepted. She later told her coach that she wanted to end her track career, and he replied, "I'll see you at practice tomorrow". She later began her professional career, competing at many meets around the world. She won several times in the 100 meter hurdles and the 60 meter hurdles. To show how caring and compassionate Lolo Jones was, she went back to Iowa to watch the Drake Relays. while she was in town, she went to her old high school (Roosevelt High School) and donated a new pair of tennis shoes to each member of the track team, she also donated $3000 dollars to the team to buy new equipment. Some of Lolo Jones's famous quotes were:"It's all about fighting and for me, its about climbing all the way back to the top"
