Fort Hood has been the biggest terrorist attack since 9/11 when Al Qaeda attacked the twin towers. Major Nidal Malik Hasan was a thirty nine year old licensed army psychiatrist. On November 5 at 1:20 P.M. he went to where soldiers were getting medical exams before they left to go to Afghanistan. Little did they now in the next few minutes he would kill 12 soldiers, 1 civilian, and wound 38 with only two handguns. He yelled “Allahu Akabar” which means God is great before he started shooting. He shot more than a hundred rounds before being shot by Police Sgt. Kimberly Munley who is now considered a hero for stopping this man. He cleaned out his apartment, and told some people that he was leaving to be stationed in Afghanistan that morning. He gave some of his neighbors’ copies of the Quran, and his mother even called that morning and he told her everything was fine.No one knows the reason of why he did this in the first place. Some say it is because of his religion, Islam, others say it is due to the fact that he was deployed to Afghanistan. He has tried before to get out of the military, but was denied. His religion was Muslim and often people made fun of or harassed him because of it. 50,000 to 75,000 people in that area were on lockdown in that area due to the attack. His family doesn’t know why he did this to these people and are currently cooperating with them. Dover Air Force Base in Delaware is where the 13 bodies were transferred to. Hasan is stable right now but he is paralyzed.I can’t imagine what he was going through and if he thought he had no other option but just to shoot people. It is sad enough to lose men or woman lives fighting for what they believe in, but for one of their own men to turn on them is kind of shocking.
