Today in class, Eli finished his oral test, which was the last one. We began our class debate. I learned that democrats are for abortion and republicans are against it. We got to put our own input into the topics to give our opinions. Mr. Bruns told us about this new Morning After pill that is something that somehow stops your pregnancy the morning after you choose to have sex. I think it is a good idea, although I am against abortion. You don't know if you are pregnant yet, so you don't know if you are actually killing someone yet. We talked about flag burning next. Democrats are very split on this topic. Some are for it because of the freedom of speech, and some are against it because of disrespect. The republicans are all against it. Mr. Bruns told us his opinion on flag burning. I don't get why you would want to burn a flag in the first place. Mr. Bruns told us that they would if they disagree with the government on something.The next topic was gun control. Democrats think we need to have more regulations and restrictions. They think that the crime rate is too high already. Republicans think that people should be able to have weapons because of the second amendent about bearing arms. (something like that ha.) We will start with environmental laws on Monday. I learned a lot about the views with Democrats and Republicans.
