Franklin D. Roosevelt

"The only thing we have to fear is fear itself."

President Franklin D. Roosevelt did all he could to help American's have faith in a better economy. His famous quote was, "the only thing we have to fear is fear itself." Roosevelt was born in 1882. Hyde Park, New York was the place that he was given birth. This is now actually a historical site. Roosevelt went to college at Harvard University and also attended Columbia Law School. The anniversary of Franklin and his wife Eleanor is on St. Patrick's day. I thought that was a pretty interesting fact. It would be pretty cool to get married on a holiday. Eleanor and Franklin happened to be fifth cousins also.

In 1921 Franklin caught a disease and lost to use of his legs. Swimming frequently help Roosevelt regain the use of his legs. In November 1932, Franklin was pronounced the 32nd President of the United States. By that March things began to go down hill very drastically. 13,000,000 people were named unemployed and just about every bank was closed! Franklin was a hard worker and a huge part of our history. He was the only President of the United States to be elected four times. During his presidency he took the United States through some of the biggest crisis of the 20th century. These events were World War II and the Great Depression. He is really known for creating the New Deal.I think that Franklin Roosevelt had the toughest jobs of president in history having to be president through all the things that went on throughout his presidency...I don't think that I could be able to do that!http://www.whitehouse.gov/about/presidents/franklindroosevelthttp://www.biography.com/articles/Franklin-D-Roosevelt-9463381
