As a way for President Roosevelt to connect to the poeple of the country he used the radio. With a series of evening programings over the radio. He talked over major public concerns of the citizens and also notified everyone of is plans for the New Deal project which was to help the people and the economy. Roosevelt used simple language and made it so most everyone could understand what was actually going on. These chats made the people feel as though they were talking directly with the President and just as important as he was.He made it clear that if the New Deal was going to work people were going to have to give their full support to the government and the banks. He also explained that when people wanted to take out their savings in cash the banks could not meet the high demand and would close. So over the next few weeks people returned their savings to the banks. His first fireside chat was on March 12th, 1933 and his last one was on June 12, 1944. I think that it was a very good idea for Roosevelt to have the fireside chats it made everyone feel as though they actually mattered and meant something, also it wasnt as impersonal as them finding these things out on the news. But in fact from the head honcho himself. It made Roosevelt really connect with his people and in the long run really helped to unite the country in a time of need, and made everyone realize that they shouldnt go with their gut instinct all the time because it usually leads to disaster.
