today in history we watched a movie about the new deal..
the economic situation was very bad at this point in time because the banks closed and people were nt able to get there money out of there bank accounts.. the system began to crash in 1929. unemployment was very bad and familys were starting to get removed from there homes and forced into the streets. everyone beleived that the new president hoover could pull them out of the depression. but even with his efforts the depression only got worse..
when FDR won the election by a landslide he tried to start fixing the things he could. he pushed laws that would give the goverment more control of the banks and after some other actions it looked like things were kind of turning around... but when farmers had to give up there land things were going bad and they gave up there land that left them with nothing
whole familys would work all day all week for only ten dollars.. president FDR started to use the radio to tell the people about his plans and other things and it worked very well because people felt that he was acually talking to them as one person rather than a thousand all in one big group..
