Monday - Finished group test!
Tuesday - Worked on Central American map.
Doctors without borders is an international doctors association. Brian Williams is a news anchor on NBC and he did an SNL skit. Williams said that he was shot by a RPG, which is untrue. Some say that it was fabricated to get his position on the nightly news ... But he just apologized for saying that it wasn't true. He's under extreme scrutiny for it. He is now taking a break from the nightly news because it seems that he has been extending the truth on a lot of stories other than just the one in Iraq.
Then we got new topics for our groups! Delaney, Whitney, Jenny, and I have Dictatorship and Anarchy.
Wednesday - Talked in class about Obama calling upon the congress for "war" on ISIS, the last time this happened was December 8, 1941 -- the day after Pearl Harbor. Then continued to work on our presentations for Dictatorship and Anarchy! Presentations tomorrow!
Thursday - Central America Map Class Quiz! Then unto Presentations. We have Dictatorship/Anarchy and went first.
Friday - Gay marriage rights around the country are becoming more and more common. Over 37 (only 13 that don't allow it yet) states have allowed gay marriage because we really want to separate ourselves from laws/religious laws in other countries (like the middle east). Tennessee, Ohio, Tex, ND, SD, Nebraska, Missouri, Kentucky, Georgia, Arkansas, etc. are all Church Band states. Iowa was the first state to allow gay marriage. Then worked on the 2nd part of the Central America Map -- the Cuban and Jamaican and Antilles region. Then onto some pointers for forum post leaders and then presentations starting with ...
Absolute Monarchy - Political System
- A monarchy that is now limited by laws or a constitutions
- Is a government determined only by it's ruler
- Examples:
- Brunei, Asia
- Qatar, Asia
- Arabia, Asia
- Swaziland, Africa
- Oman, Asia
Constitutional Monarchy
- A monarchy in which the powers of the ruler are restricted to those granted under the constitution and the laws of the nation
- The ruler must follow the constitution and laws and what the people of the nation want
- Examples:
- United Kingdom - Queen Elizabeth is a public figure and does not make any laws
- Denmark
- Luxembourg
- Monaco
- Netherlands
Direct Democracy
- is a form of democracy in which the people decide the policy and initiatives
- Citizens have basically all of the say in the laws, decisions, and essentially all of what the government does. The citizens makes the decisions, they can oppose a law, or ask for a law to be implemented
- Examples:
- Switzerland
- People get to vote in any laws that the government proposes
- Government veto and if 100,000 people oppose they must go back to law

Representative Democracy
- Instead of people voting of the laws, the people vote for people to make laws
