Left- democrat/ liberal
Right- Republican/conservative
Many americans are right in the middle between right and left
3rd parties exist to give people a choice if they don’t agree with the Democrats or Republicans
Tuesday-
Sometimes there's a split between beliefs in political parties
Ex. of a split is the 1912 election
Roosevelt split from conservative republicans and created the progressive republican
Tea party- 2009- after bank bailout, economic stimulus package, and new health care law
Bank bailout- government steps in and give the bank money
Protesting the strength of the federal government- like Boston tea party
Tends to be very conservative and libertarian in nature
‘Don’t Tread on Us”-We don't want the government to tread on us with the debt and taxes
Conservative Republican Characteristics
Illegal aliens are illegal
Gun ownership is sacred
NAtion budget must be balances
Strong military is essential
Deficit spending will end
Intrusive government stipped
English as core lingerie
Abortion should be illegal
Anti- same sex marriage
Liberal- more open to change
Conservative- looks more on religious aspects
Moderate- in the middle between liberal and conservative
