Why did he win- The 20's were good so didn't want to change anything.
Hoover- Born in west branch Iowa, parents died before 10 years old, moved to Oregon with aunt and uncle, WW1 he became food administration.
What did he do to help- he didn't do much. he told people to be patient. Give loans to people to give people jobs (RFC) Federal Farm Board- got rid of over production. Terriff- tax on imports. Took away world trade. Revenue act- make money to spend money, taxed rich people more. They gave jobs so didn't work out that well. Germany, Great Britain, France, for a year they didn't pay each other back.
Background of Roosevelt- went to Harvard, born in wealthy family, assassinate desk job for navy, got polio,
Unemployed- WPA, building(construction) FERA- was like welfare.
Home owners- people couldn't afford their homes, brought down home payment every month.
FHA- gave loans for people to get home and build homes.
The three R's- relief, reform, recovery, Relief for the needy (social security, people that needed money) Economic recovery. Financial reform.
