today was another test day, i worked on my assigned blog.. this is what i learned..
The Treaty of Versailles was one of the peace treaties that ended WWI. Whats weird about this treaty was that it was signed exactly 5 years after the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, June 28, 1919. It was signed by Germany and the Allied Powers. Germany lost much of its land and was limited to many things. The main reason this treaty was created was to punish Germany and to create a League of Nations. The terms to the Treaty of Versailles were mainly created by the Big Three, British Prime Minister Lloyd George, French Prime Minister Frances Clemenceau and U.S. President Woodrow Wilson. The Fourteen Points was Woodrow Wilson's idea to substain peace, but not everyone agreed. Frances Clemenceau wanted Germany to suffer big time. While Lloyd George somewhat agreed with both Wilson and Clemenceau.What is sad, everything was on Germany. Germany had to take the blame for the whole war and they were stripped of a lot of their land. Their Army had to be cut 100,00 men and the Navy was cut 36 ships and could have no submarines, they were even banned from having an Air Force. Unions were banned, resources were lost like coal and iron. There were many other terms to this treaty, but these are just some of the main ones. A lot of people actually wanted harsher punishments for Germany, but the United States thought that it had gone far enough. Germany also had to pay reparations to certain countries.
