- End of the Revolutionary war- Art of Confederation was the first government of the states (They were separate countries by themselves)
- Separation of Power- breaks government into branches (Executive, Legislative, and Judicial)
- Checks and Balance system is were branches check on each other; not abusing their power or too much power
- Father of the Constitution- James Madison
- Two houses of Congress is Senate and house of Representatives (2 Senates per state)(435 in U.S. House of Representatives)
- Representatives Term is 2 years, Age 25, Senate is 30 years
- Congress can declare war and make laws
- President's term is 4 years (twice, but if the president dies after his first year, vice can take over total 10 years) you have to be 35 years old
- FDR had longest Presidents term (elected 4 terms for over 12 years- died early)- Changed because didn't want dictator

- Appoint federal officers
- Ensure laws are executed

JUDICIAL BRANCH:

Friday- We had a debate over a dress that was clearly black and blue, but some crazy people said it was white and gold
