Monday- Italy

Benito Mussolini- born July 1883, smart, disobedient, expelled for bullying, school teacher, pacifist, fought in a war and it changed his thinking. He was a rifle man in WWI, he started the fascist party in 1919 which is a dictator, emphasized aggressive nationalism, racism, imperialism, and socialism. Took power in 1922 and dissolved Italy's current government. 

Homefront- what was done in the country during the war, saved paper, metal, and bones for the soldiers, planted victory gardens.

Battle Strategies- Mussolini sided with Hitler, worked with Nazi Germany, Italy attacked Mediterranean Sea, used submarines and Regina Marina.

Country battles- Italy declared war on Britain, Ethiopia , Greece, France, and Albania. 

Impact- Surrendered territories in 1942 and 43, and then switched sides to fight Hitler. Communism became more popular after the war.

5 power pact- signed by Great Britain, US, Japan, France, and Italy and designed to not build up naval forces

Treaty of Versailles- they felt cheated because they didn't get much land

Wednesday- take a test and start on Germany

Treaty of Versailles the cause of the WWII because it caused Germany to be in debt, and in bad condition so the people looked to radicals like Hitler.

Beer Hall Putsch- inspired by Mussolini 600 soldiers and a crowd of 3000 people, but failed and was sent to jail

Mein Kampf- he explains the things that the world did wrong after WWI and talks about the destruction of weak religion and the purity of the strong.

Paul Van Hindenburg- named Hitler chancellor in 1933 from pressure from his government even though he hated Hitler.

Once Hitler became chancellor, Hitler had control of all legislative branches and he basically took over the government.

Night of the long knives- Hitler purged his army of people he though were his opponents.

On August 2nd, 1934 the night Hindenburg died and his second was killed in the night of long knives so Hitler proclaimed himself Fuhrer or leader. 

Rhineland was land that Germany and France had been fighting for for years and France had it after WWI, he starts to produce weapons, and rebuild his army. France and Britain didn't do anything about it and Hitler took Rhineland back over.

Kristallnacht- called the night of broken glass, a 17 year old boy killed a nazi member, and Hitler used this as an example of violence by Jews on German people and he deported many Jews out of the country.

Plan Z and final solution- produced many weapons and the final solution was a plan made to kill off Jews and over 2/3 were killed.

Invasion- 1936-allied with Italy and Japan, 1938 invaded Austria, 1938 FR, UK, IT, agreed to give 1/3 of Czechoslovakia to Germany, 1939 Invaded Czechoslovakia, 1939, Invaded Poland.

Hitler's Main Goals- take over Ukraine and the land Germany had before and to kill off all jews.

Hitler was a great speaker, and he got Germany out of bad times, so people started to trust and support him. They showed propaganda of Hitler doing nice things to lie to the people and gather more support.

Goebbels- ensured that nobody in Germany could read, see, or hear something that could be with the Jews and lots of things supporting Nazi's.

Hitler started separating out Jews into different schools and towns and then started training kids to Nazism.
