Tuesday - Class quiz over Caribbean Islands and talked about failed states

Wednesday - Looked over the next part of the map

Thursday - Looked over Map

Friday - NO SCHOOOL

  • The territory was ruled by a variety of powers, including Lithuania, poland, The ottoman Empire, Austria Hungary, and Russia

  • During WW1 part of Ukraine fought on Austria Hungary's side while others fought on the Russian side

  • After WW1 Ukraine became part of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics in 1922

  • Ukraine became independent in 1991 after the fall of the Soviet Union and communism in eastern Europe

Monopoly -  is trying to get rid of competition

 

Practice of Communism - Everything is controlled and ran by the government, people dont have freedom of speech, or religion, etc.

  • China, Laos, Cuba, North Korea, and Vietnam

Theory of Communism- (Karl Marx) - Every business is owned by the public, with no social classes; everyone is equal.

Oligarchy - A group of wealthy people that are more powerful than others.

  • Russia, India, US, Britain, and China

Mixed Economy - Managed by people who run independent companies.

  • UK, Cuba, US, France, and Russia

Capitalism - An economic system that has private ownership of production (not owned by government)

  • USA, Canada, UK, Mexico, and Ireland are all forms of capitalism

Socialism - The society owns everything and everybody is equal.

  • Cuba, China, Laos, Vietnam, and the Soviet Union are all forms of socialism.
