Monday- Capitalism- An economic system that has private ownership of production, this will make a social class. 5 Countries that use capitalism- USA, Canada, United Kingdom, Mexico, Ireland.

Socialism- A political and economic system in which most valuable property and resources are owned and controlled by the public or the state. 5 Countries that use socialism- China, Cuba, Laos, Vietnam, Soviet Union.

Oligarchy- a few people who are richer are more powerful. Russia- ruled by Vladimir Putin. India- could be considered Oligarchy, ruled by small circle of wealthy people. United States- not one person ruling.

Mixed Economy- Public People run individual companies. Countries that are mixed economy- United Kingdom, Cuba, United States, France, and Russia.

Tuesday- Class quiz over the Caribbean Islands. Test is next Tuesday. NBC suspended Brain Williams for 6 months without pay. Fragile States- failed states.

Wednesday- Per Capita Income- How much each individual is making.

North Korea: Lack of property rights

Uzbekistan: Forced labor

South Africa: A tilted playing field

Egypt: The big men get greedy

Austria and Russia: Elites block new technologies

Somalia: No law and order

Colombia: A weak central government

Peru: Bad public services

Bolivia: Political exploitation

During WWII part of Ukraine fought on Austria Hungary's side while others fought on the Russian side.

Ukraine became independent in 1991 after the fall of the Soviet Union and communism in Eastern Europe.

Has had numerous issues with Russia ever since.
