February 15 (Monday)- Essay part of the group test.

February 16 (Tuesday)- Went over forum post topics. Started World War Two. 

February 17 (Wednesday)- Took notes on World War Two. 

February 18 (Thursday)- Went over the World War Two project and starting the movie. 

February 19 (Friday)- No School.

Treaty of Versailles

Germany had to admit full responsibility for starting the war also known as the "War Guilt Clause" 

Since they were responsible for starting the war it was responsible for all war damage and had to pay reparation. Eventually paid $33 billion. 

A League of Nations was set up to keep world peace. 

  • Territorial 
    • Land was taken from Germany 
    • League of Nations took control of Germany's overseas colonies
    • Germany had to return to Russia land 
  • Military
    • Germany's army was reduced to 100,000 men 
    • Army wasn't allowed tanks 
    • Germany was not allowed an airforce 
    • Germany was only allowed 6 capital naval ships (no submarines) 
    • The west of Rhineland and east of the River Rhine and made into a demilitarized zone 
    • No German soldier was allowed into this zone 
  • Financial
    • THe loss of industrial territory would be a severe blow to Germany's economy 
    • Germany had to pay $33 billion to the Allies 
    • Germany was also forbidden to unite with Austria to form one superstate 

4 Power Pact 

  • A treaty signed by United States, Great Britain, France, and Japan at the Washington Naval Conference in 1921
  • Countries agreed to respect each others possessions in the Pacific and not seek further territory 

5 Power Pact 

  • Signed by Great Britain, United States, Japan, France, and Italy 
  • Designed to prevent an arm's race 
  • It limited the construction of battleships, battle cruisers and aircraft carriers 
  • Did not restrict cruisers, destroyers, or submarines

9 Power Pact 

  • Guaranteed Chinese independence and upheld the Open Door Policy 
  • Signed by United States, Japan, China, France, Great Britain, Italy, Belgium, Netherlands, and Portugal
